神经衰弱是一类以精神易兴奋和脑力易疲乏，常有情绪烦恼和心理生理症状的神经症性障碍，它不是继发于躯体或脑的疾病，也不是任何精神障碍的一部分。病前可有持久的情绪紧张和精神压力史。

以疲劳无力和虚弱感为主要症状的衰弱综合征，在现代生活中相当常见。患者常有烦恼、不快或不安。
表现诊断 这一综合征可见于多种不同的疾病，例如，某些躯体疾病、抑郁症、焦虑症或某些精神分裂症早期与恢复期。查不出躯体原因者，通常诊断为神经衰弱。神经衰弱多 见于青中年，以脑力劳动者居多。许多患者体质羸弱、植物神经易兴奋、性格多不开朗。工作和学习过度紧张、忙乱，休息和睡眠长期无规律，思想矛盾持久不能解 决，以及感到有精神负担和不愉快的情绪等，常是引起神经衰弱的精神因素。躯体有消耗性疾病者，病后常有衰弱综合征，类似神经衰弱。

本病常同时有多种精神和躯体症状，如衰弱症状、兴奋症状、情绪症状、紧张性疼痛、睡眠障碍及其他心理生理障碍，如头昏、眼花、耳鸣、心悸、气短、胸闷、腹胀、消化不良、尿频、多汗、阳萎、早泄或月经紊乱等。上述症状多缺乏特异性，并使神经衰弱症状被掩盖。

不同疾病所致的衰弱综合征需用不同的处理方法。神经衰弱患者采用心理治疗、药物治疗、物理治疗等综合措施，配合合理的作息制度和体育锻炼或体力劳 动，常可获得较好效果。对有轻度焦虑、入睡困难者，可先试用各种放松训练以诱导入睡，或给予抗焦虑药。针灸和中医辩证施治也有一定疗效。注意劳逸结合，加 强体育锻炼以及太极拳和气功等，对预防和治疗均有好处。

中医治法：安神。适用于心神不安，心悸，失眠，易惊，惊痫，狂躁，心烦易怒等症。

凡具有安定神志功效的药物，中医均称之为安神药。分别具有重镇安神和养心安神的作用。主要用于气虚、心血虚或心火盛以及其他原因所致的心神不宁、心悸怔忡、失眠多梦以及惊风、癫痫狂等。
