China plans to land astronauts on the moon by 2030. The mission aims to carry out scientific exploration and related technology demonstrations on the lunar surface, develop a commuting system and short-term stay system for crews, and develop human-robot integrated testing and other key technologies. The announcement was made by a government official at a news conference at the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwestern China.

5月29日，中国载人航天工程办公室发布关于征集载人月球车研制方案的公告。公告指出，根据载人月球探测工程规划，2030年前中国人将实现首次登陆月球，其间两名航天员将驾驶载人月球车开展科考活动，根据当前任务设计，载人月球车将具备载人驾乘、月面移动、定位支持、安全辅助等功能，可为航天员提供移动、通信、探测辅助等保障。
公告称，为吸纳社会优质力量参与载人月球车研制，探索与任务实施相适应的商业化研制模式，进一步提升工程效益，现面向全社会发布公告，征集载人月球车研制方案。后续将根据方案征集情况，组织择优并选取优势团队开展样车研制。
公告要求，根据载人月球车研制主要要求，论证提出载人月球车总体研制方案建议，具体方案内容应包括任务需求论证、总体方案设计、主要关键技术、安全性可靠性设计、研制流程、质量进度保障以及商业模式、经费需求等。
根据公告，申报单位需满足四个条件。一是成立满两年以上、具有独立法人资格和健全的组织机构均可参与，可一家或多家联合申报；二是具备与承担任务相匹配的技术、研制实力；三是具备健全有效的研制、质量管理体系；四是经营状况良好，具有良好的履约信用。
