According to Huawei, the OlympusMons Awards were established by Huawei in 2019 to drive basic theoretical research in the field of global data storage, break through key technical problems, accelerate the industrialization of scientific research achievements, and achieve win-win cooperation between industry, academia and research.
In terms of previous achievements, the team of Prof. Torsten Hoefler from ETH Zurich and Prof. Allergy from Shanghai Jiao Tong University won the 2023 Olympus Prize. Prof. You Yang's team from the National University of Singapore, Prof. John Kim from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, Prof. Yang Tong's team from Peking University, and Prof. Wang Ying's team from the Institute of Computing Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences won the 2023 Olympus Pioneer Award.
The team led by Prof. Onur Mutlu from ETH Zurich won the 2022 Olympus Award for its research on data-centric network-storage-computing convergence systems, innovative adaptive optimization algorithms, and accelerated the technical iteration of storage architectures. Prof. Hai Jin's team from Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Prof. Weisheng Zhao's team from Beihang University, Prof. Miao Xiangshui's team from Huazhong University of Science and Technology, and Prof. Jian Liu's team from Zhejiang University won the 2022 Olympus Pioneer Award.

奥林帕斯难题百万悬红设立两个奥林帕斯奖，每个难题方向各一个，如果某个难题方向大奖空缺，增设1—2个奥林帕斯先锋奖。奥林帕斯奖奖金为100万元人民币/个，奥林帕斯先锋奖奖金50万元人民币/个，旨在吸引全球顶尖科研人才共同探索数据存储领域的前沿技术。
今年的奥林帕斯难题悬红包括两个方向：一是每比特极致性价比的存储技术，二是面向AI时代的新型数据底座。华为希望今年与学术界在以面向大规模数据处理的存储体系结构创新、面向海量数据的分级存储介质应用创新、面向大模型的存储集群技术、面向企业/边缘的高性价比训推技术及新形态存储、面向AI场景下的新型数据管理和高效处理技术等方向共同攻坚，构筑高质量的数据存储系统。
华为希望通过这一悬赏活动，推动全球科研人员在大规模数据处理的存储体系结构创新、海量数据的分级存储介质应用创新、大模型存储集群技术、企业/边缘高性价比训推技术及新形态存储、AI场景下的新型数据管理和高效处理技术等方向实现突破。
