Balance Decoction I (Bai Hu Tang)

This is primarily used for clearing away heat and promoting the production of body fluid, treating yangming meridian syndrome. "Bai Hu Tang" has been extensively used in the early stage of acute infection with systemic inflammation for two thousand years in Chinese medicine.

Ingredients:
Rice (seed)
Anemarrhena (rhizome)
Gypsum (gypsum fibrosum)

Actions: Clears excess heat in the qi system and the yang-ming channel, generates fluids and stops thirst, and drains stomach fire.

Indications: Domination of heat in Yangming channels and qi system, high fever, excess thirst, profuse sweating, irritability, dry mouth, and aversion to heat. It is applicable to infection diseases such as lobar pneumonia, epidemic encephalitis B, epidemic hemorrhagic fever, heliosis (heat stroke), diabetes (restlessness and polydipsia), and gingivitis with the four characteristics of this syndrome (high fever, polydipsia, profuse perspiration, and full large pulse).*
