Five Herbs Decoction

used for removing dampness to alleviate edema, and regulating the flow of qi to strengthen the spleen, in cases of severe edema due to hypofunction of the spleen with excessive dampness, general dropsy, heavy sensation of limbs, distention and fullness in the chest and abdomen, oliguria and edema during pregnancy, white and greasy fur of the tongue, and deep and slow pulse.

Tangerine (dried rind)
White Mulberry (root bark)
Tangerine (outer peel)

Actions: Promotes urination and drains dampness to reduce edema, regulates the Qi and tonifies the Spleen.

Main indications: 1. Generalized edema and pitting edema with a fullness, distension, or heaviness in the abdomen and epigastria; 2. Difficult urination and heavy or labored breathing.

It is applicable to edema, edema from pregnancy, protein deficiency edema, ascites from cirrhosis, congestive heart failure, urticaria, menopause edema, which marked by the above symptoms.*

Directions: Take 3 pills each time, 2 times a day.

服法与用量：口服，一次3粒，一日2次。

五皮饮处方源于《华氏中藏经》。本方为治皮水的通用方。水肿一证，多与肺、脾、肾三脏相关。本方既健脾运化，利水渗湿，又肃降肺气，通调水道，故有理气、消 肿、健脾之效。本方作用平和，利水与健脾之力俱弱，适宜于脾虚水肿之轻症。若脾虚较甚，可酌加黄芪、白术、党参等益气健脾之品；若里湿较盛，可与五苓散合方同用，近代广泛用于急、慢性肾炎水肿，心脏病水肿，肝硬化腹水，妊娠水肿，以及更年期综合症肌肤水肿等，证属脾虚湿盛者，均有一定疗效。
