It's formulated with Chinese peony and licorice, being primarily used for harmonizing the Liver and Spleen, nourishing the liver yin. The active conmponent of peony (paeoniflorin)  has the effect of spasmolysis, analgesia, sedation, cool antipyretic, and antioxidation, and the properties of licorice, three terpenoids, flavonoids, and polysaccharide, have the function analogous to the adrenal cortical hormone and the functions of anti-ulcer, anti-spasm, anti-inflammatory, anti-allergy, antivirus, detoxification, cough expectorant, and antitumor.

Main indications: Use for deficiency of yin and the blood. Helps alleviate pain caused by different conditions effectively, such as gastralgia, abdominal pain, and painful menstruation. It is applicable to cramps in the calf muscles, dysmenorrhea, intercostal neuralgia, irritability; muscle spasms, cramps in the hands, sciatica, slight chills, trigeminal neuralgia, which pertain to deficiency of liver yin and stomach yin.*
