Reality Check: the Democrats Bet on China's Collapse, but Lost the Election

In the American election day, they decided to replace the Democratic government with the Republic government. It shocked the major American media, hosts, columnists and commentators.

After the election, the media wonders why Democratic lost election, In general, the Democrats lost workers, no doubt. However, more exactly, the Democrats lost both the middle-class workers and minorities.

As Florida Republic Sen. Marco Rubio argued that Democrats lost the presidential election because they think Americans are “dummies.” “Their attitude is, ‘You guys are a bunch of dummies. We’re really smart people. We know what’s best for you,’” Rubio said Thursday (November 7) on Fox News. “You don’t even know what’s best for yourselves, and that’s why they lost this election, and that’s why they’re going to continue to lose elections.”

There are lessons for American Democrats:

1. American citizens matter more than migrants & Ukrainians, and the Arab–Israeli conflict. Look at the American election map. Although the Democrats won major urban votes, if they don't seriously care about the middle-class worker's (the major contributor group of American tax revenues) concerns, flying property tax and medical costs, worsen transportation and community security, "they’re going to continue to lose elections.”
2. Keep in mind, it's always about the economy in election. No other issue is greater than the economy.
3. Seek truth from facts, be practical and realistic, less talk, more action either as ruling party or opposition party.

In additional, never bet on the end of China's rise. Since 2001, the Western media, such as The New York Times, The Observer, The Christian Science Monitor, Foreign Policy, The National Interest, etc. have persistently promoted and circulated the predictions of China's collapse". 

Eye catching headlines like “China is crumbling,” "end of China's rise," "China can't stop its decline, " and “economic disintegration” are everywhere.

China is a slowing economy. It has its issues in terms of ageing population, the ecosystem they built by surrounding themselves around emerging economies and international push backs. This is visible and the Western media narrate it to you very much, the government sponsored scholars prefer to lecture in forums.

But they does not tell you, in the 90's, China accepted "Sustainable Development Theory," maintain reasonable economic growth. The Chinese have decided to slow down the economic growth now because they're now shifting from one model of economic growth to another model of economic growth. China used to rely on a lot export growth and they can no longer do so. One reason is the US led economically developed countries set trade barriers. But, I don't think it's most important.

Chinese believe that a long-existing culturalized country has responsibility to the world. The Chinese nation earnestly longs for Great Harmony ideality from ancient to modem times. From Chinese viewpoint of the world, mutual and balanced development is a matter of principle. Chinese leaders proposed the dual circulation” of domestic and international markets.

In the domestic, the Chinese do two things: one is "eradicate absolute poverty," "poverty alleviation:" the another is promoting industrial upgrading to new quality productive forces, combating aging population by realizing high automated production. They have achieved remarkable results.

In the external cycle of China's economy, China focuses on "one belt and one road" nations and least developed countries. China has put in the world class infrastructure, ports, airports, roads, rail ways, hospitals and schools, future cities and so on and so forth. They not merely sell cheap and quality products, but also transfer technology and training local workers. Meanwhile, importing food, energy, raw materials and local specialties at a large scale year by year. What's more, China cut tariff rates to 0 for more least developed countries.

Betting on a weakened China to make American strategic policy is directing the nation to a wrong direction. Americans are proud of their idealistic "democracy" and "freedom" to change policy makers every two years or presidency every 4 years. That's fine! But either the Democratic elites or the Republican caucus should think about the governing satisfaction whether on the wrong way or not after 100 days, 2 years, and 4 years.

On June 4, 2024, Biden warned China's economy is on the brink in an interview with Time Magazine.

Biden said that "everybody talks about ... how strong China is and how powerful they are," but the president offered a bleaker assessment of China's economic future.

"You've got a population that's considerably older than the vast majority of the youth in Europe, that is too old to work,"

"Where is it going to grow? You've got an economy that's on the brink there. The idea that their economy is booming? Give me a break," he added.

Biden also cast doubt on the continuing power of China's Belt and Road Initiative.

Biden said the Belt and Road Initiative had become a "nuisance graveyard initiative" and dismissed the idea that it had been successful in helping China "break through" globally and rival the influence of the U.S. and Russia.

Have the media and the Democrats wondered he's either receiving some very misleading data or living in a magical and dreamful atmosphere of White House?

On September 9, 2024, US Senator Marco Rubio (Florida Republican) released a report titled “The World China Made: ‘Made in China 2025’ Nine Years Later,” which reviews the successes and failures of Communist China’s “Made in China 2025” industrial policy.

This report finds Beijing has succeeded in conquering four of the 10 high-value, high-technology sectors it targeted in “Made in China 2025”, partially accomplished its goals in five sectors, one sector failed. Meanwhile, China has attained research leadership in 37 out of 44 critical technologies, runs ahead of the pack in “smart” manufacturing, remains the undisputed giant of basic industrial inputs, and swamps global rankings of the largest companies by revenue.

Rubio says, "We need a whole-of-society effort to rebuild our country, overcome the China challenge, and keep the torch of freedom lit for generations to come.”

The Americans made their judgement for the upcoming period of policy makers.

The final words, for both the Democrats and Republicans, understanding China realistically: China is not willing to compete with the United States for the superpower or world hegemony.
