Ophiopogon (root tuber)

Actions: Nourishes the Lung and Stomach yin, generates fluid, moistens dryness, directs adverse flow of qi and regulate the stomach.

Indications: It is indicated for consumptive lung disease due to deficiency heat in the stomach, absence of body fluid, and rise up of fire, marked by cough, whitish frothy sputum, shortness of breath, dryness of the mouth and pharynx, dryness of the tongue red in color with little fur, and weak and rapid pulse. It is applicable to chronic bronchitis, chronic pharyngitis, gastritis, peptic ulcer, pulmonary tuberculosis, with above symptoms.*

临床应用以肺胃阴虚，气火上逆，咳唾涎沫，短气而喘促或呕吐，咽喉干燥，舌红少苔，脉虚数为辨证要点。寒痰壅肺之咳逆、脾胃虚寒之呕吐，本方不宜。现代常用 于慢性支气管炎、支气管扩张、慢性咽喉炎、肺炎、百日咳、矽肺、肺结核等属肺胃阴虚，气火上逆者。亦治胃及十二指肠溃疡、慢性萎缩性胃炎等属胃阴不足，气 逆呕吐者。
